Each year our Business Director Paul set’s himself a challenge. Before Covid-19 he completed the 3 peaks challenge (The National Three Peaks Challenge).

This year, Paul is all about giving back and will be volunteering for Staffordshire Blood Bikes!

Current situation

It’s the early hours of the morning, it could be cold, wet and stormy and a hospital urgently requires blood. Currently hospitals within Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire have little choice but to call a local taxi company to collect and deliver the blood. The hospital would then be charged retail rates for this “service”, which can cost between £200-300 per trip!

Paul recognised the challenges that hospitals are experiencing and wanted to help. As a keen motorcycle enthusiast already, he knew he could make a difference.

After completing an intense motorcycle training course with IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorcyclist), Paul will be qualified to transport a variety of urgent medical items across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.

This challenge is especially important to Paul, as he also firmly stands by The Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes statement:

“We exist not for the income, but for a beneficial outcome”.

Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire Blood Bikes (SSCBB) are proud to be a part of the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes, working together to transport urgently needed medical items such as blood, biological samples and medical notes, demonstrating the continuous service to the NHS and the wider community.

Not only have all blood bikers within the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes contributed to saving the local hospitals a significant amount of money, but they are also appreciated for continuously providing high quality, professional service.
