Staffordshire businesses urged to support #nophoneday

We’d love businesses across the county to support us in our push to raise as much money as possible for road safety charity Brake.

Brake hold an annual Road Safety Week which this year takes place from November 18-24th, and we’re organising two events to raise more than £500 for the charity which plays a vital role in promoting life-saving messages across thousands of schools, organisations and communities.

Our MD Fiona Hawkins, said: “Road safety is an issue which is particularly close to my heart, as almost three years ago I tragically lost my nephew in a road traffic accident which happened close to his home.

“It’s a sad fact that in the UK there were around 1,839 road fatalities in 2018, and that drivers on any phone are four times more likely to be in a crash that causes injury.

“In 2018 our social enterprise arm – The Education Agency – became an official supporter of Brake, and this year we’ve decided to try and raise as much money and awareness as possible with two events for Road Safety Week and we’re urging Staffordshire businesses to join in.

“On Monday November 18th we’re hosting a charity pub quiz event at The Wayfarer near Stone and we’re looking for teams of six to enter, come along, have some fun and test their grey cells!

“Then on Wednesday November 20th we’re holding a sponsored #nophoneday here at Plinkfizz where our team will put down their phones for the length of a working day – a tough challenge given we’re a digitally led marketing agency! We’re asking other Staffordshire businesses to do the same and submit their donations via”

To enter the fundraising charity pub quiz there is a £10 entry donation per team and the evening will run from 7pm-8:30pm. If you think you have the premier pub quiz team and would like to raise cash for a great cause then register your team place today here.

To take part in #nophoneday submit your sponsorship cash via the dedicated fundraising page at or you can just simply make a donation.
